FAQ
A few things people often ask before they start. If your question isn't answered here, we're always happy to help — just get in touch.
Q: I’ve never embroidered before. Will I be able to follow the instructions?
A: Yes. We recommend starting with the Spiral Sampler, which is designed for first-time stitchers and includes a stitch-along video tutorial. Once you've worked through the sampler, you can move on to Mini Catwalk, a Confident Beginner project that lets you apply selected techniques to a decorative design.
Q: Do I need anything else to get started?
A: No. Both kits include the embroidery hoops, needles, DMC thread, and fabrics with the patterns printed directly onto them, so there's no tracing or pattern transfer. You'll just need a pair of scissors to snip your threads.
Q: How long will it take to complete both embroidery kits?
A: As a rough guide, allow around 4–6 hours for the Spiral Sampler and around 6–8 hours for Mini Catwalk. If you're new to embroidery, your first few stitches may take longer as you get used to separating the thread and learning new techniques. Jessica's stitch-along tutorials let you pause and rewatch each section whenever you need to, and you'll usually find your stitching becomes quicker as you get more comfortable. You can finish the two projects over a few evenings, a weekend, or spread them out over longer. There's no need to rush.
About this piece
If you've been wanting to learn embroidery, this bundle gives you a clear place to begin and a delightful project to continue with afterwards.
Step 1: Learn the Stitches
Start with Spiral Sampler, a beginner kit designed to teach embroidery while you create a finished piece. Instead of practising stitches on plain fabric, you'll work directly on the printed design, learning 14 essential stitches as your hoop fills with colour. Jessica Long's step-by-step video tutorial guides you through every technique, giving you real confidence from your very first stitch.
Step 2: Create a decorative display piece
Once you've completed your sampler, move on to Mini Catwalk. You'll apply your newly learned stitches to a charming storybook scene featuring a cute black cat beneath a glowing full moon, framed by vibrant pink and purple flowers.
Rather than wondering what to make after your first project, you'll already have a second display-ready piece waiting. The two kits work together as a gradual progression, taking you from learning essential stitches to completing a detailed, decorative design.
Whether you're picking up a new hobby or gifting a complete creative kit to someone who's always wanted to try embroidery, this bundle offers a thoughtful journey from absolute beginner to confident stitcher.

About the artist

Jessica Long Embroidery, Arizona, USA
After a career in a biotech lab, Jessica turned to hand embroidery following the birth of her son, looking for a way to slow down, connect with her hands and reduce anxiety. Having felt intimidated when she first picked up a needle, she now designs colourful, approachable kits with step-by-step guidance to help others discover the slow, satisfying pleasure of making.
Inspired by her lifelong love of natural science illustration, her patterns bring animals and florals to life. Each is designed to be enjoyed one relaxing stitch at a time.
